Overview

Commercial rights allow Ingonyama Trust land to be used for business and economic activities, including retail developments, shopping centres, tourism projects, and hospitality ventures. These rights are intended to support economic growth and create employment opportunities for local communities. Applications must include detailed applicant information, business plans, funding sources, community beneficiation schemes, and any other required documentation. The Ingonyama Trust grants leases of up to 40 years to promote sustainable development.

Typical Turnaround
Approximately 4–8 months depending on development scale and approvals.
Fees & Rental
Market-related annual rental set by independent valuation, plus a non-refundable application fee. Larger developments may carry a once-off premium.

Who Can Apply & Eligibility

  2. Traditional Council consent
    Engage the relevant Traditional Council to obtain a resolution supporting your proposed land use.
  3. Lodge documents & site details
    Submit the required documents listed above together with a locality map of the land you wish to lease.
  4. Assessment & valuation
    The Board assesses the application and arranges an independent valuation to set a fair annual rental.
  5. Approval & lease agreement
    On approval, a lease agreement is prepared, signed and registered, giving you secure tenure.
